An unmarried mother who is the sole custodian of the child must remember that she is protected under the child custody laws for unmarried parents. No one, not even the natural father, can take the child without a court order and a legally established paternity test.   When a child is born to unmarried parents in Georgia, for example, the law declares the mother to have sole custody. It is only once the father establishes a legal relationship to the child that he is allowed custody or visitation rights.

    a. examine with the mother and her family her financial ability to support the child, b. help them plan for the mother's and child's future, and. c. refer the mother to a family planning agency. (See 9) 7. Foster or residential care. The worker explores the need for and availability of foster or maternity home care for the unmarried school-age. Jill Nicholson () Mother and baby homes: a survey of homes for unmarried mothers London: Allen & Unwin 0 04 8. The unmarried mother's name on the child's birth certificate is sufficient proof of her custodial rights. Her right to custody is automatic under state law. By contrast, even if the unmarried father's name is on the birth certificate, without further action, it does not automatically establish his custodial : Stephanie Kurose.   She is treated like any other mother and with the help of a kind male doctor she is prescribed to stay in the hospital until the birth (which is three weeks away), unlike another book I reviewed The Baby Laundry for Unmarried Mothers Sheila is allowed to keep her precious daughter who she falls madly in love with. With the help of some of her.
